Welcome to St Heliers Library ~ in the heart of St Heliers
From the beginning of August 2022 St Heliers Library Services will be available from the Tamaki Ex Serviceman’s Hall, located on the corner of Turua Street and Polygon Road, whilst the lovely brick library building is being earthquake proofed and renovated. This will take about a year.
Whilst operating from the hall our immediate collection is limited but you can still borrow and order books and we endeavour to continue to provide your usual library services without too much disruption.
Our collection includes a range of adult fiction and non-fiction books, large print and audio books, magazines, DVDs, and a teens collection. We also have books in Chinese. The New Zealand Herald is delivered to the library every day, and we have several weeks of back issues to consult while you are there.
Every Saturday from 10am to 12pm we have a Justice of the Peace service at the library. No appointment necessary. Our wonderful children’s area has board-books for toddlers, picture books and junior fiction, easy-readers, audio-books, VOX books and graphics, children’s DVDs and music CDs, and non-fiction books.
We offer free internet access with public computers available for library members and visitors, and free Wi-Fi inside the Library.
Book a librarian if you need help with Auckland Libraries digital services and the friendly St Heliers Library staff are always happy to help you with your printing.
We present a variety of activities at the St Heliers Church & Community Centre, on 100 St Heliers Bay Road, including two sessions of Wriggle & Rhyme on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Shared Reading for adults, on the second Tuesday of each month.
Various activities such as book clubs and craft sessions for children are also on offer. Our school holiday activities are always fun and almost always free! Its best to register for these though as they ARE popular.
